Ski Rental

The most convenient place to pick up rental skis or a snowboard is at JH Sports, located at the Bridger Centre right by the slopes in Teton Village. Here you’ll find the latest demo gear from snowsports experts. Picking up and dropping off your equipment is simple from this place, plus you can swap your kit to try out different setups, whether it’s powder skis or an all-mountain snowboard.

Another option is Hobacks Sports, a ski rental store down in the town of Jackson. They’ve been in business for over 35 years and have a huge range of different skis and snowboards to choose from. If you know your sizes pretty well, Christy Sports offer door to door ski and snowboard rental delivery. They also have a 20% discount when you order at least 24 hours in advance. For true adventurers, Teton Backcountry Rentals has all the backcountry gear you need from avalanche equipment to backpacks. They can even deliver and pick up if you're short on time otherwise just pop into their shop in downtown Jackson.

Ski Lessons

The Mountain Sports School at Jackson Hole provides a comprehensive array of lessons and guidance from instructors and professionals that call this mountain home. Whether you’re looking for a simple beginner group lesson or want some private one-on-one tuition it’s all available here.

Backcountry guides can also be hired to take you beyond the resort boundaries, so you can explore the pristine mountainsides and deep powder without getting lost! In addition, race training, telemark skiing lessons, and adaptive ski programs are all available too.

Childcare

Wrangler Daycare offers childcare and pre-ski programs for children aged 6 months to 3 years old. There are both indoor and outdoor activities and their pre-ski programs teach toddlers how to balance and slide. 

Health

We all know ski resorts aren’t exactly the safest places. If you take a tumble and end up coming down the mountain on a blood wagon then you’ll end up in the bustling yet tiny St. John’s Clinic at Teton Village. Most insurances are accepted here and hopefully it’s nothing too serious, because if it is you’ll be taken to Jackson.

The closest real hospital to the slopes is St. John’s Medical Center, down in Jackson on East Broadway Avenue. There’s an emergency room here, along with services like operating rooms, intensive care, reconstructive surgery, and rehabilitation, but fingers crossed you won’t be needing any of that!

Banking

If you need to get yourself into an actual bank branch then you’ll find a bunch of the larger financial establishments in Jackson, including Well Fargo, U.S. Bank, and Bank of the West. ATMs are dotted all over the town, plus you’ll find them up in Teton Village and at the mountain base area. Credit cards are also widely accepted in the hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops at Jackson Hole.

Supermarkets

Simple convenience stores can be found in Teton Village and Wilson, but for more choice you’ll want to carry out any larger shopping in Jackson. There are a handful of supermarkets to choose from, with Jackson Whole Grocer & Café and Lucky’s supplying a great selection of organic options if that’s what you’re looking for.

Otherwise, Albertsons is a top spot for stocking up on everything, particularly alcohol, as the liquor store attached to this place has a decent selection of wine and beer. One other place worth a mention is Smith’s, there’s not much you won’t find here, and the prices are generally a tad cheaper than at Albertsons.

Shopping

Jackson Hole's rustic roots make for some of the best shopping in the Rocky Mountain West. The shops surrounding the town square at Jackson feature high-end western wear, home décor, as well as hand-crafted goods by regional artists. 

Head down to the Jackson Bootlegger for a selection of high-end footwear and (most importantly), cowboy boots. They also boast apparel, men's and kid's shoes, and unique Jackson accessories.

For the hip mountain men, there's no other place to shop but Mountain Dandy. From tasteful “beer mittens” to antler tine razors, this store offers the most unique selection of goods we've seen for mountain town men. Be sure to also browse through MADE, Mountain Dandy’s brother store, where you'll find the best and most stylish handcrafted gifts by local and national artists.

Inspired by big mountain lifestyle, Stio creates gear and clothing that boast functionality and style – meaning you can sport it in the Rocky Mountains or Manhattan and still be the best dressed “outdoorsy kind” around. Hats are cooler than T-shirts for souvenirs; find one of those repurposed trucker hats with artwork on the front for something totally Jackson and one-of-a-kind. Head to the flagship store off Cache Street when you're shopping around town.

Internet

There’s no free Wi-Fi actually on the mountain at Jackson Hole, but down in Teton Village there are a bunch of places where you can get online. Try the Alpenhof Inn, Four Seasons, and Snake River Lodge. Hotel Terra is another good spot for free Wi-Fi, but there is a 4-hour limit there.

Down in the town of Jackson there are even more internet connection options, with the Teton County Library offering quiet work areas with free Wi-Fi. If you find yourself outside Jackson Town Hall you’ll also be able to connect to free public Wi-Fi there. For coffee with your Wi-Fi duck into Persephone Bakery in the centre of town.

Other Activities

Jackson Hole offers all the usual activities of major destination ski resorts, plus a few offerings unique to the natural wonder of the Tetons. Here are a few not-to-miss ways to see and experience Jackson Hole – and yes – all worth one afternoon off from the slopes:

Snowmobiling at Yellowstone National Park

Spend a day in the backcountry of Yellowstone National Park with a snowmobiling tour. Much of the park's roads are closed during the winter, so snowmobiling offers access to sites like Old Faithful and wildlife sites otherwise inaccessible.

Dog Sledding Safari

If you fancy travelling at the speed of dog through the unspoiled wilderness of Bridger-Teton National Forest you can do just that! Dog sledding tours are available and you can explore the incredible wildlife along the way. 

Grand Teton National Park & the National Elk Refuge

A wildlife safari is a perfect complement to a Jackson Hole ski vacation, and the best way to get up close and personal with some of the largest beasts in the area is on a guided tour through the Grand Teton National Park. Catch a glimpse of bison and mule deer, along with smaller animals like coyotes and foxes. Up in the sky you might even spot a golden eagle! 

To witness the largest wild elk herd in North America make sure you take a look around the National Elk Refuge. Horse-drawn sleighs will take you for a trip through this protected area, something that’s only available during the winter season, usually from mid-December to late March. To learn more about the creatures inhabiting the area visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art which overlooks the refuge.

Jackson Hole Rendezvous Festival

If you’re waiting for bluebird days in late March, be sure to check out the Rendezvous Festival, a four day lifestyle and music festival! There are après parties in Jackson Town Square and at the base of the Tram featuring outdoor concerts by acts like Michael Franti and Portugal.The Man.

Tubing at Snow King Mountain Resort
