Everything about a ski trip to Okemo is well thought out. The ski slopes at Okemo are so well groomed, with sweeping views of the Ludlow Valley, and the staff here is as friendly as you will find. From the wide range of on mountain lodging to the well-placed lifts including two new high-speed orange bubble-covered lifts, a six-pack, and a quad, to the huge snowmaking power, it is no wonder Okemo ranks high amongst New England skiing families.

For beginners

Okemo has plenty for beginners and has a top-notch ski school! If you're staying slopeside, you could be near the easy Sachem run which gives you quick access to the Sachem Quad. Easy Rider to Mountain Road is the best winding, summit to base run in the resort! It's also the longest and is an easy cruiser. Bounder Terrain Park is great for beginner boarders with gentle jumps and ramps while Robin's Nest is a great beginner terrain park for families.

For intermediates

Intermediate skiers and boarders will enjoy the long, uninterrupted blue trails that traverse from summit to base. Hot Dog Hill is great for intermediate boarders looking to progress their skills. Our favourite intermediate trails are at the Solitude area, with its well-groomed corduroys on the Sidewinder and Heaven's Gate runs plus it has a fun blue glade,Tree Dancer!

For experts

Ungroomed trails and glades are all over at Okemo, however, those who really like a challenge will probably get bored easily due the lack of steep terrain. The steepest (and our favourite) area is the Jackson Gore Peak which has the best perks of being the least crowded area since most of the trails are black or double blacks. Tree-skiing experts will enjoy Okemo's 19 ha of glades; some are unmarked and waiting to be discovered! Expert boarders can find challenging terrain at the OMS Crazy Train Park.

Find freshies

Freshies can be found in the glades. The Jackson Gore Peak areas are the least crowded so the freshies are less likely to be skied off. There is some tree-skiing not marked on the trail maps making for exciting backcountry skiing.

Ditch the crowds

The orange bubble lifts attract quite the crowds since they provide relief from the cold with the heated seats and covers. The base lifts near the clock tower also see queues as they allow access to easier terrain. Staying on Jackson Gore Peak will help avoid the worst of the crowds with most beginners avoiding the peak.

Non skiers

There are so many activities at Okemo such as riding the mountain coaster, tubing, pools with slides, hot tubs, fatbiking, ice skating, outlet shopping in nearby Manchester, sleigh rides, spa, hiking and the list goes on! The snowcat excursions are quite enjoyable, especially the Snowcat Dining Adventure - travelling by snowcat across the mountain to a 5-course fireside meal, paired with specific wines.

What makes Okemo great for families is its excellent ski school, the magic carpet area and the easy ski-access back to the lodging to take a break! Also, the condos at Jackson Gore are conveniently close to everything you need. For those with beginners, the A, B and Sachem Quad lifts provide access to multiple beginner trails. Child care facilities are also available if you have little ones who aren't ready for the slopes.

I'm a season pass holder at this resort. I like Okemo for its excellent snow grooming. I'm a senior and prefer to ski on trails that are well groomed. It's a good idea to use goggles that are good for flat light when skiing at Okemo.... More

One of my favorite mid Vermont resorts. Why? Because many of the trails go straight down the face and do not go laterally much. But the best thing is the endless amount of rollers you can boost off of. Seriously there are endless places to jump off, so do your pre season squats. Only slight negatives is that the main lift is not immediatly... More

I have been traveling to Okemo mountain since I was a child. It's truly one of the best the east coast and has to offer. The staff is super friendly and they do an amazing job with snowmaking and grooming. It's family oriented and always been a favorite for me. Okemo always gets five stars in my book.

Okemo was the first mountain I learned to snowboard on. I am a born and raised Vermonter and will always consider okemo home. It has an amazing hometown feel to it, and you can always find trails to get away from the big crowds on the weekends. 10/10 would recommend!

So many ski in ski out options. The condos on the mountain are great.
Superb!5 / 5Jan 09, 2013
Okemo Mountain has more true ski-in/ski-out accommodations than any other mountain in the Northeast. This coupled with excellent snow conditions and family friendliness makes it my favorite mountain.

I think Okemo does a great job all around. Their conditions are always great, the people are friendly and the variety of different trails is wonderful.
