Aspen Mountain is one of the four mountains of Aspen Snowmass, which includes Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk. It is known for its upscale amenities and vibrant nightlife in the town of Aspen as well as excellent snow conditions and difficult terrain for high intermediate and advanced skiers.


Aspen Mountain has several types of lift tickets including day lift tickets, season passes, Ikon Pass, and the Mountain Collective Pass. Below is a detailed explanation of the differences between the lift tickets.
The Aspen Mountain Lift Ticket gives you access to all four mountains at Aspen Snowmass. The lift ticket availability can potentially be limited during busy periods to maintain a good ski experience.
Aspen Mountain offers several season pass options to cater to different preferences. These season passes provides access to all four mountains of Aspen Snowmass and are available for purchase pre-ski season.
You can access Aspen Mountain on 2 types of Ikon Passes. Ikon Passes are available for purchase pre-ski season until around the end of November. Lift reservation is required and can be made using your Ikon account after your pass has been issued. The differences between the passes are highlighted below.
The Mountain Collective Pass provides 2-day access each to 24 ski resorts across 5 continents with no blackout dates.
Aspen Mountain Ski and Snowboard School offers group clinics and private lessons. The check-in locations are either atop the Silver Queen Gondola or Private Lesson Desk (inside the ticket office).
Aspen Mountain is located at the town of Aspen, which is approximately 4 miles from Aspen/ Pitkin County Airport. Aspen also provides easy access to Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk Ski Resort, and Snowmass Ski Resort. The ski town is known for its upscale atmosphere with luxury shopping, fine dining, and high-end hotels.

Aspen Mountain has only 4 on-mountain dining options.
Sundeck located atop the Silver Queen Gondola, this restaurant offers American, Mediterranean and Asian quick and ready-to-grab-and-eat dishes.

Ajax Tavern is located at the base of the Silver Queen Gondola at The Little Nell. The restaurant serves French & American fare casual fine dining with après cocktail including Bolognese and a double cheeseburger with truffle fries.

Bonnie’s Restaurant is located on Aspen Mountain, mid-mountain off Tourtelotte Park. They focus on breakfast and lunch, offering oatmeal pancakes and meat omelets.

Element 47 is located at the base of Aspen Mountain inside The Little Nell Hotel. The restaurant serves refined American cuisine including beef, pasta and seasonal produce. Reservation is recommended.

February is the best month to visit Aspen Mountain for less crowds and great snow. It is crowded from Christmas week until the end of January as the town of Aspen comes alive for the Wintersköl festival and the X Games. If you’re a powder hound, the best months to ski or ride Aspen Mountain are December, January, and February.
Aspen Mountain has basic amenities at its base village including a parking lot, a few restaurants, a ski school, ski lockers and a free shuttle service around Aspen. There are also plenty of winter activities to do including tubing, alpine coaster and more.
