Hotel Bergschlössl is the place to stay in St Anton. This charming, ski in ski out Austrian mountain castle (hence the name: bergschlössl) is everything you picture in a traditional European 4-star hotel in the Alps. The décor is delightful Austrian with pretty hand painted frescos (by the innkeeper Johanna) and hand carved woodwork, especially lovely in the slope view dining room. Here every morning a sumptuous buffet breakfast of local Tyrolean cheese, meats, salmon, fruit, and muesli is served along with fresh eggs cooked to order. The Bergschlössl is family owned and operated, the third generation innkeepers are Klaus and Johanna Moosbrugger Lettner. They provide quiet but quick and genuine service to their guests.
St Anton’s Bergschlössl has 10 intimate suites that are beautifully appointed, with spacious elegant tile bathrooms – even by American standards. We loved our circular bed and fireplace in the Oriel Suite. All the modern amenities are included in your room - a huge flat screen iMac computer and stereo plus TV, Wifi (or W-Lan), and gas fireplace.
The Bergschlössl could not be closer to St Anton’s ski lifts, especially the marvellous modern Galzigbahn lift (see photo above), and the St Anton ski school and ski guide service. Bergschlössl is perfectly poised for avid skiers with a convenient ski room of lockers and boot dryer downstairs; you can be first on the lifts and slopes if you don’t linger at the wunderbar breakfast.
After skiing, enjoy the in house spa with sauna and steam room, a fluffy robe is provided in your room. There is also a tanning bed and fitness equipment. You are walking distance to St Anton’s après ski umbrellas bars, cafes, ski shops, and so many great St Anton restaurants. A walk up the hillside from Bergschlössl to The Museum is an unforgettable dining experience in a 1912 Austrian chalet amidst incredible woodwork and architecture. Be sure to visit the special ski museum exhibit upstairs before or after your sumptuous dinner.
